Below are details of Obituaries in the current year

 

 

 

 

It is with great sadness we have heard that the following have passed 

 

ANGELA MANN of Woking Park a County and Johns Player. In the mid 1980's she was part of a winning County Fours and semi-finalists in the National Championships. Her funeral was on Monday 8th January 2018

 

PAT SIMMONDS of Croydon and Purley Ladies passed 18th January. She had moved to Devon where she continued to bowl the funeral was on Monday 12th February.

 

MAXINE GLAZEBROOK of Ember passed away this morning 21st January. She was our SCWBA President in 2014 Her funeral was held on 16th February.  No flowers but donations to St Catherine Hospice

 

JANICE GILL, recently of Cheam Fields Club and formerly of North Cheam BC and Malden Ladies, on Sunday, 28th January. Her funeral was held on 2nd March.

 

PAULINE BLEAKLEY who bowled for many years out of Croydon BC. The funeral was held at Croydon Crematorium on Tuesday 6th March

 

MARY RAHMATALLAH, previously of Egham who had been both SCWBA President in 2007 and SCWIBA President in 2001/2. The funeral was on Monday 26th March service in Virgina Water followed by burial at Windlesham

 

SUE PENNELL passed weekend of 24th/25th Feb. She had been the SCWBA delegate for Watchetts Bowls Club for many years before it closed. Her funeral was held on 28th March

 

HELEN SALTER, recently of West End Bowls Club but previously Knaphill where she became Ladies Captain Her funeral was held on 28th March.

 

HAZEL GATER from Ember who was a badged player and who had been a county finalist in the Fours in 2012. Her funeral was held at Randalls Park. All donations to Princess Alice Hospice (in memory of Hazel Gater) via funeral directors Frederick W Paine, 265 Ewell Road Surbiton Surrey KT6 7AA.

 

EUNICE WILLIAMS of Burpham has passed unexpectedly. She had been their Match Secretary. The private funeral has already taken place.

 

KATE ALLAN  of Horsell who was previously our County Safeguarding Officer A memorial service was held on 23rd May at St Dunstans Chrucrh GU22 7DT.

 

EDNA WHEATON of Mid Surrey who had been SCWBA President in 2000 passed away on 11th June. She was a badged player and won the unbadged Singles in 2003. Edna's funeral was on Thursday 28th June.

 

JANET NAYLOR of Hersham (who was their Match Secretary) passed away on 18th June. Janet's funeral was held on Friday 13th July at Randalls Park  Leatherhead KT22 0AG

 

We have also heard that BURPHAM ladies have passed GRACE COLE and BETTY PICKUP (Both past members)

 

JILL HARRIS, former Surrey President (1993), has passed away.  Jill has lived for some years in Turkey and I know that she remained in touch and friends with many bowlers

 

MARY SMITH of Westend who with her husband Bob were founder members of the club which opened in 1996.

 

THELMA BARTON a former Surrey player and England International died this summer aged 94. She was a bowling member of  London Transport (ex Croydon Trams), South Norwood and Croydon Bowling Clubs and an England International from 1976 to 1977 and 1980 to 1983. She was also a runner-up in the National Pairs with Mrs Garner in 1973 and had regularly played in the Johns.
