to 15 year old Yasmina Hasan of Goldalming & Farncombe on being placed third in the Youth Sports Personality of the Year category at the recent 2017 Sport Godalming Awards.

In addition to her individual achievements, Yasmina was a member of our Amy Rose team which exceeded all expectations by reaching the semi-finals at Leamington this year.

We look forward to following Yasmina’s promising career in the future, particularly in next year’s Sutton Winson Competition at Leamington.

Well done!

15th December Note from Disabiity Bowls England

We are hoping clubs will organise a "Try Bowls" session for people with a

disability in their towns and attach a poster for clubs to print and add their details. Posters could be displayed in a community centre, surgeries, library, other sports & social clubs, care homes, special schools etc..

It would be great to hear if any clubs organise an event and happy to put details on Disability Bowls web site Disabilitybowlsengland.org.uk. We may be able to arrange for a member of Disability Bowls England to attend. Photos and a short report after the event will also help in spread awareness.

15th November   BOWLS SURREY

Following the decision passed unanimously at the Annual General Meetings of both the SCBA and SCWBA the unified County Organisation will be renamed  'Bowls Surrey'. There will be one Constitution that will cover the administration of the Organisation. There will be no change to the way in which each Association operates, they will continue as SCBA and SCWBA and carry out their day to day activities such as competitions etc. as they do at present. The one major change is that there will be only one AGM in November 2018. A review of the Rules and Regulations is being carried out at present and in the meantime the Rules and Regulations from the previous Constitutions should be used.

Benevolent Fund donations

As most of you know, Jill Huggett, our Secretary and Treasurer of the County Benevolent Fund had a nasty accident during the summer months.  Since the fall Jill has not been well and although she had intended to continue as Secretary until the AGM, she has been unable to do so and has therefore relinquished her position.  Jan Pedersen, kindly took over the role as a stop gap measure until a replacement could be found.

I am delighted to say that Caroline Duarte of Southey BC has offered to take on the position of County Benevolent Fund Secretary and Treasurer and we are delighted to welcome her in this vital role.  Caroline has taken on these duties with immediate effect but will be elected to the position in the usual way at our AGM in November.  Meantime, until such time as we can get the bank mandates sorted out which, as you will appreciate, can be a somewhat lengthy process, please send all cheque donations to either myself or Jan Pedersen.

Any requests for the Christmas gifts should be forwarded to Caroline at carolineduarte48@gmail.com  These can then be picked up at the AGM in November.

Many thanks

Sheron Mitchell

SCWBA Secretary
