BWIBC INTERNATIONAL SERIES

CONGRATULATIONS to Margaret Smith (SUTTON) who has been invited to play for England in the BWIBC International Series in Edinburgh June 19th to 21st 2016, Gemma Barnett (CHEAM LADIES) who is recalled and Pat Bourne (PURLEY BURY) are also part of the squad. Travelling Reserve is Debbie Sarratt (EGHAM) and Non Travelling Reserve is Shan Maylin (SOUTHEY). WELL DONE to all our Surrey ladies.

BE WOMENS SENIOR INTERNATIONAL TRIAL

CONGRATULATIONS to Gemma Barnett (CHEAM LADIES), Shan Maylin (SOUTHEY), Debbie Sarratt (EGHAM)  and Margaret Smith (SUTTON BC) on being included in the Bowls England Womens Senior International Trial Team for 2016 at Leamington on Saturday 19th September.  (Pat Bourne (PURLEY BURY) is automatically selected for 2016 as she was in the sucessful 2015 Squad).

 

AMY ROSE

CONGRATULATIONS to our AMY ROSE Squad who have won the AMY ROSE Trophy at Leamington after having been runner-up the last 2 years. They beat Somerset 37-34 in a close match in the final - WELL DONE

 

NATIONAL 2 WOOD SINGLES

CONGRATULATIONS to Margaret Smith (SUTTON BC) on winning the FINAL of the NATIONAL 2 Wood Singles at Leamington and becoming the 2015 CHAMPION.

 

NATIONAL 4 WOOD SINGLES

CONGRATULATIONS to Gemma Barnett (CHEAM LADIES) on reaching the FINAL of the NATIONAL 4 Wood Singles at Leamington. Although Sophie Tolchard of Devon took the title well done to Gemma for being the RUNNER-UP.

 

 

MESSAGE FROM THE WINNING JOHNS TROPHY TEAM CAPTAIN

On behalf of the Johns Trophy team I would like to thank everyone who has given up their time & travelled to support us, you have been tremendous & we are sorry that on a few occasions made it a bit nerve racking for you but your cheering, whistling & noise has got us through. Thank you to our scorekeepers for providing us with accurate updates this is such a hard task & so important to the players & you've been great. To Sheron for arranging the venues & sending endless emails so we the team know where to be & when. Lastly huge thanks again to David Bourne without whom our County would not have achieved what we have.

TONY ALLCOCK TROPHY

CONGRATULATIONS to EGHAM BC on reaching the Semi Finals of the TONY ALLCOCK Trophy which they lost 33-34 on an extra end.

 

BENEVOLENT TRIPLES

CONGRATULATIONS to Janice Begent, Sue Macdonald and Di Ross (BOOKHAM) on beating Liz Anderson, Shan Maylin and Debbie Souter (SOUTHEY) to win the Benevolent Triples in Surrey (National Placing 17th).

 

Congratulations to Pat Bourne (Purley Bury) who played in the England squad which retained the BIWBC International Team Title at Leamington June 2015.  (Debbie Sarratt (Egham) was a non-travelling Reserve)

 

 

It is with great sadness that we have learned that PAT HATT from Bletchingley BC passed away on Saturday 21st November 2015. She was a County Bowler and went on County Tours helping arrange the Beetle Drives. The service was held on Friday 11th December.

We have heard that BETTY SULLIVAN passed away on August 16th 2015 some 5 months after her 90th birthday. Betty had been President of Surrey WCBA in 1987. We send our thoughts to her family and friends.

With sadness we have to advise that LYZ WARREN of EPSOM BOWLING CLUB passed away on Friday 16th October 2015. She had been Ladies Captain and the first lady at EPSOM to be Secretary.  She was the current chairman of the East Surrey Ladies League. The service of thanksgiving for her life was held on Thursday 5th November at St Marks Church, Tattenham Corner Epsom.

It is with great sadness we have to advise that JOYCE SUTER of Chipstead passed away on Monday 28th September 2015. She had been the Club delegate for many years. The funeral was held on Monday 19th October.

It is with great sadness we have to advise of the passing of RENEE WICKINS on Wednesday 30th June 2015 after having come off the green. She was a stalwart and supporter of Chessington Bowls Club. The funeral was held on Monday 27 July 2015 at Lambeth Crematorium.Any donations for the British Heart Foundation to A & E Longhurst, 21 Kingston Road, Ewell, KT17 2DX.

We are sorry to hear that LOUISA SMITH has passed away. After she left Richmond she joined Priory Park to play County Pairs with Marjorie Marlow  and in 1978 they were County Pairs finalists. She then went to Ember and had been our Competition Secretary (Zones 3-4) 1981 to 2003 part of the County Executive and became a Life Member of SCWBA and the English Womens Umpires Bowling Association Her funeral was held at Randalls Park Crematorium  on July 2nd 2015. No flowers donations to Age UK.

We are sorry to have to announce that MARJORIE FRANCIS has passed away. She bowled out of Streatham Park for many years and joined Croydon in the late 1990s where she bowled both outdoors and indoors.  She played in the Johns Trophy Team in the late 70s/early 80s and her husband Vic was Surrey County Men’s President.   Marjories funeral was held on Wednesday 25 March

We are sorry to have to announce that JUNE WHEATLEY (SUTTON) who was SCWIBA President 2004/5 and past SCWIBA Secretary passed away over the weekend of 17th/18th January. The funeral took place on Wednesday 18th February..
